The MVP for 2022 is Anthony Luciano from the New York Finest!
After a 2 year hiatus from the WRWBL, Luciano returned to help guide the Finest to their first ever league championship. The former Stony Brook product did nothing but dominate in every aspect of the game this season. Whether he was hitting tanks over the fence, making web gem plays in the field, or pumping gas on the mound, Luciano was well deserving of the MVP.
Statistically, Luciano ranked highly in just about every offensive category. He led the league in home runs with 4, was tied for 1st in Runs (22) and Total Bases (52), 2nd in RBI (23), 3rd in Hits (29), and tied for 3rd in doubles (8).
In the field, Luciano made only 1 error all season long as the Finest’s primary defender in the infield. His performance defensively helped him earn his 2nd career Gold Glove award.
On the mound, Luciano made only one appearance. In that appearance however, the right hander went 3 strong innings with only 1 hit allowed and 7 strikeouts against the New York Bears.
To cap off his historic season, Luciano was named to the All-Star team and was the driving force in the Finest’s historic championship season.
Congratulations Anthony!
