2022 Cy Young Winner Announced!

11/10/2022, 4:00pm EST

The Cy Young award winner for 2022 is Marc DeNunzio from the New York City Thunderdogs!

DeNunzio is the first ever member of the Thunderdogs to win the Cy Young award.

The Lackawanna product was nothing short of dominant on the mound all season long. An imposing lefty with good fastball velocity and wipeout off speed stuff, DeNunzio was the heart and soul of the T-Dogs pitching staff.

DeNunzio’s name was well represented throughout the league’s pitching leaderboards. DeNunzio tied for the league lead with 5 wins. Furthermore, the left hander was also 2nd in Strikeouts (39), 3rd in innings pitched (38), and 6th among qualified pitchers in ERA (2.37).

Congratulations Marc!

2022 Comeback Player of the Year Announced!

11/10/2022, 3:30pm EST

The Comeback Player of the Year for 2022 is Daniel O’Byrne from the New York City Thunderdogs!

O’Byrne experienced a rocky start to his WRWBL career in 2021, as the slugging outfielder managed to only collect 6 hits in 40 at bats, while posting a .150 batting average with 5 RBI’s.

However, O’Byrne came back in 2022 with a vengeance! Leading the charge offensively for the T-Dogs, O’Byrne posted career highs in batting average (.329), hits (23), and RBI (14). O’Byrne also posted a 2 home run game on July 17th against the New York Bears, becoming 1 of only 5 players this year with a multi-home run game.

For his tremendous efforts at the plate this year, O’Byrne was named to the All-Star team as a designated hitter!

Congratulations Daniel!
