Yesterday afternoon the WRWBL released their selections for Week 5 Players of the Week. In total, four players from four different teams were selected. Greg Esposito earned his 3rd nomination of the season, while Parker Gibbons earned his 2nd of the year.
Parker Gibbons caught fire this week to help the Bears secure a weekend sweep over the NYC Thunderdogs. The former Kenyon College standout collected 5 hits, including a double, and a league best 6 RBI.
Greg Esposito is solidifying his case for the Cy Young award every week, and this week was no different. The former Manhattanville College flamethrower threw his third complete game gem of the season, tossing 7 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts against the New City Outlaws.
Kolby Mordecki was as dominant as they come on the mound this past Tuesday, shutting down the defending champion New York Bears at Zukor Park. The former SUNY Plattsburgh standout tossed 6 innings of 1 hit ball with 8 strikeouts to help propel the Outlaws to a 12-0 victory.
Brody Diers had himself a week at the plate for Gap2Gap. The Montclair State standout collected a league best 8 hits on the week, with multi-hit performances in 3 of the 5 games he played in.
