The Sportsman of the Year for 2023 is umpire Lou Gaudio!

Lou has been a long-time figure in the Westchester baseball scene, having umpired for over 20 years as a member of the Westchester County Baseball Umpires Association and having been a fixture umpiring WRWBL games for years.

More recently, Lou has had to overcome stage four esophageal cancer. It was not an easy battle to fight, but his resilience and determination have helped him become a cancer survivor.

Lou is one of the most well-respected umpires around and it shows in the way he treats other players, coaches, fans, and umpires. As a league, we could not be more thrilled to know that he is healthy and back to doing what he loves!
