2022 TEAM PREVIEW: New York Finest

The New York Finest return for the 2022 and there’s only one thing to know, they mean business.

Outside of their counterparts, the New Rochelle Tigers, the Finest are one of the most dominant teams in the league. Rarely do you see a roster that is matchup proof, but the Finest possess the talent and the depth needed to win it all. Despite their shortcomings in their past two championship runs, the Finest fully expect to be back in the fold.

The Finest once again bring back their core of veteran stars as shortstop PJ Ragone, outfielder Anthony Carnacchio, and catcher Raul Gonzalez all make their return to try and chase championship #1. With their talent and leadership, these three men will certainly be the driving forces in the Finest lineup all season long. Also making his return to the Finest lineup is power hitting first baseman Carlos Alcantara. His presence in the heart of their lineup should compliment their other star hitters nicely. Leading the pitching staff will be WRWBL veteran Tyler Mitts. Mitts was a focal point in the Finest staff last season and will be looked upon to do the same this year.

The big news this offseason for the Finest certainly made Manager Dennis O'Sullivan excited for his team’s chances, as longtime WRWBL standout two-way Anthony Luciano announced his return to the club. His presence both on the mound and at the plate will be a massive boost for this team.

O’Sullivan also brings in some high level former collegiate talent to his squad, as catcher Marcus Chavez (U of Michigan), outfielder Anthony Maisano (STAC), and pitcher Kris Killackey (Stony Brook) will all make their WRWBL debuts with the hope of contributing right away to their title push.

This is a squad built to win it all. They’ve been knocking on the door for years, making deep run after deep run in the playoffs. Will this finally be the year O’Sullivan’s Finest squad wins championship #1? We have to wait and see!
