In what was an uncharacteristically down year for the WRWBL’s most historic club, the New City Outlaws came into the offseason with the mindset that they were going into a full rebuild.

The Outlaws revamped their coaching staff by naming former player Joe DiRocco as their newest head coach. A former WRWBL champion, DiRocco has the knowledge required to lead a rebuild and bring the Outlaws back to the top.

Only 4 players return from the 2021 roster. Most notably, longtime veteran utility man Daniel Demetrops returns to provide leadership for this youthful squad.

DiRocco’s focus during this rebuild was to load up on local collegiate talent in the Westchester/Rockland area. Standouts such as Kyle Cremin, Michael Ascanio, Andrew Knapp, Tommy Kreider, Frankie Delgado, and Joey DiRocco will look to make an impact early on in their WRWBL careers.

DiRocco also secured a big time addition, adding veteran Indy Ball left hander Frank Fantino. With Fantino’s talent on the bump and leadership in the dugout, the Outlaws hope to stay consistent throughout the long season.

Will the Outlaws be improved? Most definitely. Do they have what it takes to win a championship? We have to wait and see. This is a young and hungry team that’s poised to contend with the league’s best, but just how disciplined will they be to handle the grind of a full WRWBL season?

We are super excited to see the Outlaws compete this season!
